The time said "4 days". Odd, apple themselves say that the serializer burns the serial number in ie. I don't even need access to the GSX features, I just need to be able to proxy the GSX requests and monitor what the responses are from the Apple server so that I can write a server to mimic it. When opening, it takes ages to verify. I suppose most of these are useless these days. Where did you get the serializers from? EFI is a useful architecture within which to run diagnostics, because no operating system is required to do so.

Hmm have to try it with another mac. Yeah AST 2 uses gsx, but there is a software package that interfaces with it.

I used netboot into AST from the retina and it worked to change the serial as well. I was wondering maybe it is possible to strip something out, as the efi version is considerably smaller than the total size, and maybe make a single bootable USB with all versions - but I'm not a osx guy, so I stop there. Apple is known for sticking to fairly rigid release schedules, which leads many to believe there are right and wrong times to buy Apple products — and it's easy to see why.
